Renewables

We are eco-minded individuals and over the years we’ve added quite a number of renewable technologies to become more independent from the grid. We operate 3 solar systems (11 kW, 4 kW and 8 kW) on barn roofs and the farm office roof. The farm house is served by a solar thermal system for hot water and a ground-source-heat pump delivers the energy for the underfloor heating.
We currently have 3 wind turbines producing electricity and plan to erect another one soon.
The whole farm including farm house, office, Mill House and Straw House is heated by a biomass wood chip boiler which we fire mostly with our own wood. Clachan Cottage is heated by a biomass pellet boiler.
